Nowdick, J. Nicholson, P. G, Morgan and Torrmis. Correspondence was read as follows:- " Education Board, July 20,1301. Sir, —I am directed to acknowledge tho receipt of your letter, dated 4th instant, asking that a third-year pupil teacher may bo attached lo the school., In reply I am directed to inform you Hint you l 'letter has been considered by ilie Hoard; and that tho Chief Inspector will be asked to select an exporieired pupiLtcadier for appoiutmem to tlio Wmhi District High School, in exchango lor 0111 of the pupil-teactart ill present employed at tho school. 111 m, cc, Vincent I'], Rice, S'Tivlitry." The abovo was received in reply to ,1 request by tho Committee. "Education Board,.Auckland, July 27, 190-1. —Sir, 111111 directed to inform the committee that tho foreman, when at Waihi, gave attention lo the closet drains of the school, and opened out the drains and found pipus loading from the boy;' closet to the tank blocked up with stones, pieces of string, etc, lie remedied the nuisance, and put in special openings l'i enable the committee lo clear out in future any iilistriii'lion. The cost of the work ■ was £"l Ills 4ft. The Board asks the committee to be good enough to forward this amount, and to exercise every vigilance to prevent a recurrence of the nuisance, I am, etc, Viucent E. Rice, Secretary." The request was granted, "Education Board, Auckland, Augusi 10th, 1904, Sir, -With reference to my letter dated June full, and to tho special grant of i'3Bo voted by the Minister for an additional classroom tor iho dis'riel high school, tin Board desires to consult Hie committee as to the best method of providing he accommodation required, It appears that there i 3 some difference of opinion as lo Iho actual requirements, and as to the committee's expectation, In February of this year, a separa'o applies- ' Hon was made to the Minister for a grant of X'sßo to erect 11 building for manual training and technical classes, and for it l'urthor sum oi about ,0260 to pro.ido apparatus and fittings for the saino; and the scheme then submitted to tho Minister provided also for the accommodation of the district high school pupils, This nppl'ca'iou has no* yet been dealt with by Government, and the Board has no menu of judging whether or not it will be granted, It appears that the committee oxpjct that t'.io proposed new room shall serve the purposes of high school, manual training, and technical classes, but tho grant (i'ijSO) is cleatly insullicient for iho joint purposes. Tho Board desires to learn whether it is tho wish of the committee that tho now room proposed for tho district high school shall bo dosigncd and erected without re« feroneo to tho manual training and technical classes,-I nui, olc, Vincent E, llico, |"Socretary. j "The abo.vewas also in roply to a request for a new high school and technical class room. It was resolved to endeavour to got the now high schoolroom. " Battalion Ollico, Waihi, July llith.Fir,—On tho 20th inst., a wilhary school of instruction will bo started in Waihi being hold thveo times a weok lor four, weeks, The Uieoretical parts will be held in the evenings iindor LimUenant Colonel Owen, of Wollingtou, I would ask permisson from your committoo lo have tho use of one 01 tho roams in tho school during this period. I anticipate having somo 15 ollicors and non-coms present at this cottrso o f instruction, and will undertake that nothing it displaced or broken, Tho room would be required 011 Wednesday, Thursday and Friday of each week,—l am, etc., A. T. ItamuK, Major." Request granted, " Waihi 23rd June; Sir:—Owing to tho disgraceful condition of tho Waihi High School, I havo been compelled to keep my daughter at home, her hoalth being of tho first consideration, I havo examined tho school, and in my opinion it is not fit, for children to sit in this cold wintor weallnr. I made a complaint to you personally, somo time in April last, but so far it ap* pears to mo nothing has been done, and not likely lo bo, without some more is made by tho parents of children,—l am, etc. James W. Graham." The pbove was forwarded to the Board of Education, along with a similar complaint from Mr Ncwth. Mr, T, Gardner tondered his resignation as bandmastor of tho Cadet Drum and Fife Band. Moved by Mr. Ncvth, scconde 1 by Mr. Nowdick that the resig* nation bo accoptcd. Tho matter of appointing a bandmaster was held over Tho head master, Mr Bongo, wrote giv* ing 11 list of requirements for tho school, Moved by Mr, Hartley, seconded by Mr Henderson, that a stovo bo procured for ono of llio class rooms. Carried Resolved that tho matter of procuring two waste paper boxes for playground bo left in the hands of secretary and chairman.
