woli timed, and although agreeing with its sentiments, I was not at all surprised at the action ot the proposer to call tonders oulsido for tho littlo bit of printing. The aciion ot tho Councillor in question was only on a par will) others which ho lias supported in other public bodies, particularly in regard to ignoring local tradespeople in the mutter of supplies of school requisites. In fact, it seems to mo if ho could only lmvo all his own way in regard to the public bodies' supplies, local industry would have a very bad timo of it. It the situation wore reversed, and ho was endeavouring to obtain a livelihood by keeping shop. and was treatfd in the smiie manner, I feel sure he would consider these actions unfair, and voice his protest. That is tho peculiar nature of some public men.—lsm, etc, Local Isdustiiy
