THE ARMS ACT
. REGULATIONS ISSUED,. (Per United Press Association.) WELLINGTON, Nov. 23, Regulations under the Arms Act have been issued. They are to come into opera*tion on January Ist next. Application for permission to carry a pistol beyond the home must be made to the police in a special form. It must state the purpose for which the weapon is required, and must he accompanied by a recommendation from some other person. The holder of a license to carry a pistol must notify the police of any change of address. No person is to he permitted to import arms, ammunition, or explosives without permit issued by the police. Application for such permit is to specify the articles proposed to be imported. Permits to buy firearms, ammunition, or explosives must be obtained by application to the police, and will be good for a period of six days only. The seller must specify the firearm on the back of the permit, and must return the document to the police. The regulations deal also with the possession of arms in prescribed areas. The Act provides that the Government may fix areas within which the possession of arms, ammunition, and explosives will he unlawful, except pursuant to license issued by the police. Such license may be revoked at any time, and the holder must notify the police of any change of address. The Act requires that any person holding a firearm must register. Application for registration must he made to an authorised police officer. The registered owner of the firearm must notify any change of address to the police.
