SECOND EDITION. IMPERIAL AFFAIRS
DOMINIONS PREMIERS
~W THE MEETING IN JUNE. Si: —Press Assn.—Copyright. Australian and N.Z. Cable Association. Received November 19, 2.30 p.m. LONDON, November 18. The reference to the statement published in the London Times that a meeting of the Dominion Prime Ministers in London in June; 1921, will be the beginning of a definite system of Empire Government in peace time, under which an Imperial Peace Cabinet will be the governing body of the Empire, the Australian , Press learns on the highest official authority that the statement goes Verymuch beyond the terms of the announcements by the Prime Minister and Mr Bonar Law in the House of Commons. The meeting will be on the lines of the Imperial War Cabinet meetings in 1917 and 1918. It will be remembered that the Prime Minister stated that he hoped and expected that these meetings would become the accepted convention of the British Empire. The result of these meetings is not, however, to set up a common executive of the Empire, not in any way to affect the executive authority of each move or responsibility of each to its own Parliament. They were held with the object of arriving at a common policy on matters of urgency and importance to all by frank and intimate discussion, The forthcoming , meeting of Prime Ministers will be of the same character.
