The Minister of Agriculture informed Mr Statham that he hoped tp pe able to arrange for a supply of wheat so that small millers who arp now faced with a shortage will not have to shut down. The Minister of Works, replying to Mr Seddpn, said the dispute at the Otira tunnel over wages had been settled, 'There )had faeen a brief stoppage of certain work owning to a shortage of cement, but arrangements had been made to meet this difficulty. . Replying to Mr Wilford, who asfc-' ed if tbe Government was doing anything regarding the Appointment- of a Copamissipp. or other represents tive of the Government in the United States,, the Premier sale! he sympathised with the suggestipn. but the one difficu. .y was that of salary.. It had also been apparent lately that a great political change was coming ttn America, it would be advisable not to do any-? thing definite until they saw what was the outcome of that change, which might have considerable efr feet on New Zealand trade. The Minister qf Education said he believed the Department would *be able to obtain at once a portion of the Lyttelton gaol site for the fit of the Lyttelton school.
