ENGINE-DRIVERS’ AWARD.
(Per United Press Association.) WELLINGTON, ;Nov. 1. Amendments to the enginednvers’ award in the Wellington district have been filed by the Arbitration Court, Minimum rates for drivers in charge of any boiler within the meaning of, the Inspection of Machinery Act, 1908, are fixed as follows: (a) Where the work requires the holding of a first-class certificate for stationary engines, 17/- a day; (b) second-class certificate, 16/- a day; (e) traction or locomotive engineers, 17/- a day; (d) firemen and greasers 15/6 a day. Where any worker is required to get steam or bank fires outside ordinary working hours an hour extra is to be paid. Wages for youths engaged in firing'or assisting are as follows; 18 and under 19 years of age, 9Jd an hour; 19 to 20 years of age, lL|d an hour; in each case plus Id an hour as bonus.
