THE EGYPTIAN AGREEMENT
Received August 25, 10.30 a.m. LONDON", August 23. The Morning Post, Daily Telegraph, and Daily Chronicle state that the Egyptian agreement has not yet been submitted to the British Cabinet. It ia entirely due to Lord Milner and Zaglou Pasha, and needs confirmation by the Egyptian National Assembly, also the consent of the Powers affected. BOLSHEVIK DISCIPLINE CRUMBLING. A CEY FOR PEACE. Times. —August 25, 9.40 a.m. DANZIG, August 23. Bolshevik discipline, hitherto of the best, is reported to have gone to pieces. The troops arc retiring by any means of transport, regardless of their officers. Refugees are entering Germany to the number of 500 daily. There is evidence that the Russian railway service is almost at a standstill. The Reds apparently marched all the way to the outskirts of Warsaw. Their leaders have admitted to civilians that they must have peace because the rolling stock was giving out, and the soldiers’ dress and footwear is in a bad state. TEADE UNIONS’ MANIFESTO. APPEAL TO STOP WAR. AMSTERDAM, August 23. The International League of Trade Unions at Rotterdam has issued a manifesto signed by Mr Appleton (president), M. Joupanx (vice-president), and the secretaries, and addressed to the workers of all countries, declarfng that the Russian revolution is attacked and threatened. Ail counter-revolutionary attempts mu it cease, no trains or steamers carrying munitions must move, no soldiers be transported, food supplies must be withheld, and no munitions manufactured, lire League requests members to take the necessary stejis for peaceful action, even a general strike, adding that twonty--«ven million members of the League alone bave the power to save the world from a repetition of wars and cruelties. Let “War against war!” be the cry, uniting the workers of all countries. POLAND’S ASSURANCES Received August 25, 11.50 a.m. WASHINGTON, August 24'. Polish official circles here state that Poland will speedily assure the United Slates that Poland’s victorious armies will not pursue the advance beyond tho Polish ethnographic boundaries.
