A Wellington Press Association message announces the death of Mr James McLeilan, who for many years was general manager in New Zealand for J. Lysaght, Ltd., in his 68th year, after a long illness. Deceased was a former president of the Chamber of Commerce and also a member of tbe Harbour Board. Ho was a prominent figure in bowling circles. Mr G. W. Jaird, the Mangaweka a°<;nt of the Loan and Mercantile Agency Company, is r.T present an inmate of Belverdale Hospital, where he is likely to be for about a fortnight. Mr Charles Schiiaky, examiner for Trinity College, London, arrived in Wanganui yesterday. Mr and Mia Schiiaky are staying at the Hotel Braeburn. At the recent commercial examinations conducted by the National Business Col-Iro-e, Sydnev the following pupils of St. Joseph's Convent, Patea, were successful . —Typewriting.—Frances Brady, 9S per cent.; Howard Smith, 96.
