ELECTRIC POWER
WANGANUI’S CHANCES OF SUPPLY. MEMBER QUESTIONS MINISTER. (By Telegraph—Special to “Herald.”) WELLINGTON, August 24. “Has tho Minister of Works finally made up his mind that Wanganui is not going to get any power from Mangahao?” asked Mr Veitch in the House to-day. The Hon. Coates replied sharply. “It’s no use beating a dead dog! I have made- up my mind and you know my answer!” Mr Veitch; “At any rate I hoped to get a courteous answer!” The Hon. Coates: “What on earth is the use of asking me the same question half a dozen times? I have already said I’m sorry at present there is no chance of giving a supply from Mangahao.” A few minutes later Mr Veitch again asked the Minister of Works a question on the same subject, remarking; “I know it is great impertinence to ask questions, but will the Minister tell me when ho expects to get power from Waikaremoana ?”* He drew the attention of the House to the fact that Wanganui tramway service was suspended owing to want of power, consequently it was his duty to stir himself in the hope of bestirring the Public Works Department. The Minister of Works replied by recommending the member to put "his question on the Order Paper.
