LOCAL INVESTMENTS.

It behoves the public of Wanganui to support the commercial enterprises of the town and district, because the future prosperity of the community depends upon whether the town is as progressive as other parts of the Dominion, and offers facilities for the establishment of industries which are the life of the city. The loan recently raised for the. purpose of providing electric light and power is a step towards the further advancement of the industries of the town, and the Council is now inviting the public to invest in the purchase of debentures issued for the purpose of raising the money required to complete the work, and as this undertaking is the ratepayers’ concern, it should receive their hearty support. The debentures hear interest at the rate of 5% per cent, payable half-yearly by presentation of the coupons attached to the debentures, at any branch of the Bank of New Zealand. The debentures are negotiable and can be. sold by the holder on the market at any time, and this form of investment is now becoming most popular with those who desire none other than first-class security.
