THE KATTOWITZ INCIDENT.
A NEW FRANCO-GERMAN CRISIS. BERLIN, August 20. Security police are holding the French quarters at Kattowitz, in Prussian Silesia. Two thousand Italian troops have arrived to replace the French. The Italian commander informed the security police that they came to protect them against superior’, Polish forces. It is now stated that the inter-A Hied Commission had adopted an attitude of strict neutrality and intimated its intention to disarm all troops crossing the boundary and to prevent ’supplies and munitions crossing the plebiscite territory. “Vorwaerts” .asserts that Nationalist elements on both sides will endeavour to use the Kattowitz disorders to create a new Franco-Ger-manic crisis. ■ According to a Berlin message two thousand Poles occupied many villages in the neighbourhood of Kattowitz. PARIS, August 21. Pifrther demonstrations occurred at Kattowitz. Armoured cars fired at a menacing crowd, killing seven. BERLIN, August 20Ip the Kattowitz riot the mob murdered Dr Milcwski, the Polish leader, and flung bis body into the river.
