BOXING.
The Hamilton Boxing Association held a toun-amont at the Theatre Royal on Wednesday evening, when there was a large attendance in the amateur contests A. Hudson (Hamilton) defeated C. Madox (Hastings), the New Zealand amateur champion, after a fast and clever exhibition. In the feather-weights A. Francis (Auckland) obtained the verdict from W. Whittomc- (Auckland), and in the light-weights P. Hannah (Hastings) defeated V. G. Brown (Auckland). The professional light-weight contest between H. Holmes (Australia) and E. Yolaire (France) went the full 15 rounds, tho Australian obtaining the verdict on points. It was a fart and clever exhibition. Holmes winning the larger number of rounds. Ho was very effective in in-fighting, and, although his opponent was dangerous right up to the close, hold a good margin of points.
