The ballot taken by the Locomotive men on the question of the acceptance or rejection of the terras recommended by the tribunal which investigated their claims, has been counted by the Grand Council of the E.F.C.A. No announcement as to the result has been made and the Council has asked Mr Massey to receive a deputation some time this week. LOCOMOTIYE MEN’S ATTITUDE. (By Telegraph—Special to “Herald”). WELLINGTON, August 17. The Railway Department has commenced to pay latest bonuses to all sections of the service, including the locomotive men, whoso dispute has not been finally settled. The Ixrcomotivo Association executive, will confer with the Minister of Railways on Thursday upon the outstanding points of the disagreement. The chief question, I understand, is the payment for standing time between runs. "This was formerly the departmental practice, hut has ceased under the new' agreement. The men contend that unless standing time is paid for there is a tendency to keep them at the disposal of the Department for a long period, though owing to intermittent times of duty, they arc only paid for a comparatively short period compared with the total time away from home.
