WORKERS’ DWELLINGS

POSITION IN WANGANUI. A reply has been received by Mr W. A. Yeitch, M.P , from the Minister for Labour, the Hon. W. Berries, detailing the position of the workers’ dwellings in Wanganui. The letter stated: “The position is that a contract has been let to Mr J. Kavanagh for the concrete portion of eleven dwellings at Puriri Settlement. Mr Ka vanagh hopes to commence work on these dwellings immediately he has got a contract under way on which he is row engaged at Hawera. “Mr \V. Wilkie has entered into a contract to erect four dwellings on the remaining sections at Ball an ce Settlement. “Mr Palmer’s tender for the erection of twenty dwellings at Ararooho has been accepted, but up to the present the contract has not been signed by him. “It has recently been decided to purchase an additional eleven sections at Wanganui East, and tenders will shortly be called for the erection of dwellings on these sections.”
