PARAMOUNT MUNICIPAL PICTURES, The resumption of municipal pictures at the Opera House to-night is sure to be marked by a large audience, particularly as the programme to be presented is really first-class, made up of travel, comedy, and drama subjects. The star picture is “The Third Kiss.” Rupert Bawlf, a settlement worker. Missy, a red-haired employer of a box factory, and Dr Paton, are the central figures in this dramatic picture. How three kisses form a very interesting part of the story as will be told on the Opera House screen to-night must be seen to be appreciated. The third kiss, it may be mentioned, is the fulfilment of a warning. THE GRAND. LAST CHAPTER OF “THE LIGHTNING RAIDER.” Followers of the thrilling serial, “The Lightning Raider,” will look forward with great interest for the climax which will be presented at the Grand to-night. The end’ of 15 startling episodes will produce a complete surprise as a finish to one of the best pictures that Pearl White has yet given us. The star picture to-night will be an exceptionally powerful World drama, entitled “The Moral Deadline,” which features June Elvidge, who is supported, by Frank Mayo, Ned Burton, and Grace Stevens. EVERYBODY’S. BERT LYTTEL IN “FAITH.” • The new programme to be screened at Everybody’s to-night will introduce the popular actor, Bert Lyttel, in the latest screen success, “Faith.” It is a play imbued with the good in human nature. Faith of woman in man and faith of man in man is ihe theme. It is a picture which shows the strong human need for human faith and encouragement. The supporting pictures show the Topical Budget, the Dominion Travelogue, and “The Sleuths,” a capital comedy. ARISTO ASSEMBLY’S PLAIN AND FANCY DRESS DANCE. There was a very good attendance at- the Wanganui Hast Town Hall last Monday night, when tire Aristo Assembly held their first plain and fancy dress' dance, the hail being very prettily decorated with flags and Chinese lanterns. There were quite a number of ladies in fancy dress, and the judge (Mrs Cowan) gave her decisions as follows: Miss F. Dodds (Powder Puff), first; Miss D. Prescott (Dutch Girl), second. There being only one gentleman in fancy dress, Mr J. Mathews (Wounded Marine) was awarded firstprize. The supper, which was in the capable hands of half a dozen ladies, was first-class. The music, which was supplied by Mr N. Kirk, was all that could bo desired. After having spent a most enjoyable evening, proceedings were brought to a close shortly after one o’clock. It is the intention of the Aristo Assembly to hold another of these dances in the course of a few weeks. SUPERANNUATED RAILWAYMEN. The position of many railwayman who have retired on superannuation has become very serious in these days of the rising cost of living, and a movement is on foot to take steps to secure a commensurate increase in their retiring allowances. To this end an important meeting is to be held in the Y.M.C.A. Rooms on Saturday afternoon, at _ 3 o’clock, which all superannuated, railway men are urgently asked to attend.
