PRESENTATION TO MR PIRANI.

To the Editor. Sir, —With reference to a paragraph appearing in your issue of Saturday, it is pleasing to note that the School Committees and teachers propose to recognise the splendid services rendered by Mr F. Pirani. In connection with this, may I suggest that the two local newspapers inaugurate a subscription list, so that the general public may also have an opportunity of supplementing this fund. Personally, I have had experience of Mr Pirani’s wholehearted interest in the cause of education, and I know that there are many in Wanganui who are only awaiting the opportunity to show their appreciation of services rendered to Wanganui, for so many years, not for any personal gain, but at a great sacrifice of his own private business. I shall be delighted to have the privilege of contributing to the general fund.—l am, etc., DAVID McFARLANE. [lt will afford us pleasure to comply with our correspondent’s suggestion. Mr Pirani’s long and valued services in the cause of education well merit practical recognition.— Ed. W.H.]
