President Desclianel lias signed a decree instituting a new French lion, which is to be reserved for mothers of Large families. It is intended to be “a testimonial cf the Republic's gratitude and respect to those who have in their humble way contributed, to the maintenance of the genius of France.” Ihe medals will be of bronze, silver and gold respectively for mothers of live, tight and ten or more, legitimate children.
