THE TSAR’S DEATH

AFFIDAVIT FILED IN LONDON. In an affidavit sworn on May 14, and now filed in the principal Probate Registry in London, the late I sar s sistei swears to the death and the massacre of other members of his family. This may dispose of stories that some members of the Russian Royal Family escaped. The affidavit by Tier Imperial Highness the Grand Duchess Xenia Alexandrovna of Russia (wife of the Grand Duke Alexander Michaelowitch), now residing at :2S Draycott place, Chelsea, swears that His Imperial Majesty Nicholas Alexandrovitch, Tsar of All the Russias, died on July 16, 1618, at Ekaterinburg, iu Russia. 'That he had domiciled in Russia, intestate, and that neither his wife nor any child of his survived him, and that under Russian law his mother (who survived him) has no interest in the estate or in the granting of- letters of administration, which interest vests in his two sisters who survived him. A further affidavit by James Sheftel, a Russian Sworn Advocate of the Court of Appeal in Petrograd, confirms this statement regarding Russian law. On these affidavits Mr Registrar Barnard granted letters of administration to the Grand Duchess as the person entitled to administer the English estate, which is sworn at £6OO gross value.
