STRIA’S SUBMISSION
A DRAMATIC INCIDENT LEADS TO ACCEPTANCE. By Telegraph—Press Assn. —Copyright. Australian and N.Z. Cable Association. Received July 27, 10.30 a.m. CAIRO, July 25. A dramatic preceded the Syrian acceptance of the French ultimatum. The Syrian Congress' at Damascus heatedly discussed the situation and rejected the Ministry’s conciliatory advice. The Ministry tendered its resignation, which Feisal refused to accept. A delegation of extremists called at the Palace later, and demanded acceptance, declaring: “If the Ministry does not fall you will fall.” Feisal ordered the instant arrest of the delegation and their internment in the Citadel. A mob attacked the Citadel and released the delegation, whereupon Feisal’s partisans fought the extremists for two days. The outbreak ended with the approach of the French troops. 1 '
