IMPORTANT AMENDMENTS. MELBOURNE, July 24. A Bill has been introduced into the Federal Parliament to amend the Public Service Act. The main features are that the Service will be placed under the control of a Board of Alanagement with extended powers, and the adjudication of disputes will be transferred from the Arbitration Court to a specially appointed arbitrator. Another Bill to amend the Quarantine Act gives power to the Commonwealth in cases of emergency to supersede the State quarantine regulations. The Bill extends the law to air navigation and increases the restrictions on landing passengers, and extends the power of inoculation to include any prophylactic.
