A WEIT FOE DAMAGES. MELBOURNE, July 23. A 'writ has been issued on behalf of Father Jerger, claiming JSDOO damages from Hon. Eyrie, Assistant Minister of Defence, for alleged slander. STEVEDORES TO BOYCOTT P. AND 0. SHIPS. MELBOURNE, July 23. Tho Federated Stevedores’ Conference, representing all States, passed a resolution refusing to work any P. and 0. Company boats unless the Khyber is instructed to call at Fremantle and Jerger is put ashore and given a fair trial. PERTH, July 23. The Labour Council passed a resolution protesting against Jerger’s deportation. It was decided to hold a monster demonstration on Sunday as a combined unions* protest.
