WELLINGTON, May 3. The Locomotive Association las come, into line with the other railway societies in accepting the principle of a Conciliation Committee, retaining its stipulation that the Government guarantee the retrospective, principle for the wage increase, because this is actually covered by the broad terms of the agreement, which will enable all societies to contend before the Inquiry Board for any degree of retrospection they can justify The strike, therefore, has ended. The loco, men appear to have recognised the justification of -the Government's fianl display of determination on Saturday afternoon, when the men were faced with a los9 v of superannuation and possibly he loss of position if the strike continued for the sake of one clause which, as the Government contended, and other societies admitted, was covered in the agreement.
