By “ACHILLES.” Acceptances for the first day of the Wanganui J.G. autumn meeting close at 8 p.m. on Monday.There are ten Cup horses already here, without counting Oratress and Client. There are three or four others who are regarded as certain starters, and there is every prospect of the field being a record one. There was some interesting work on the track this morning, when the weather was fine and the track in good .order. The first to work was Reakpoto, the gelding doing a couple of rounds on the plough. George Laing has him looking very well. Bo Peep and Active ran a mile together, finishing abreast in 1.44 3-5. The first half was cut out under oO sec. Taiamai, looking a picture, went a mile by himself at a fast clip, finishing up comfortably. Gazique covered six furlongs in attractive style. He looks very fit, and if lie can stay will be dangerous in the Cup. Lord Kenilworth was stepped out over five furlongs, which he left behind in 1.4, going well within himseif. Bonnetter appeared to hold Lovematch over five furlongs, the distance being cut out at a fast pace. The Bonilorm mare is in excellent fettle. Lovematch is also very well, as shown by her form at Woodville, where she won the Cup in good style. Zola, Rose Queen, and Farce were associated in a mile gallop, the former showng to most advantage at the ish, the time registered being 1.40 4-5. The son of Sweet Simon is evidently very fit, and it is probable he will be started in the Stewards’ Handicap the first day, and sent for the Hurdles next Saturday.

Dusky Eve and Melee were companions in a spin over a pair beino- close together at the nmsh. Melee is'a very sturdy sort, and should run out. a mile and three-quarters well. Explorer,. Wishful, and Rebuff covered a round together at a solid pace, the former went particularly well. Admyra and Hymestra hopped oil at the five-furlong post together, and ran the distance m 1.3J-, tlm fii slimmed being in front, though Hymestra was going along nicely at tne eD Listowel heat W'eldone over a halfmile. run in 52lsec., Miss Old by herself went a round nicely, bmib covered a mile at a strong pace, and 'Trespass sprinted over six furlongs in 0 Useful work was also done by R|&bt and left. Oratress (8.7) will meet Kilmoon (8.8) on exactly the same terms as when they dead-heated at Wellington, Oratress iA considered to have a great chance m the Wanganui Cup, and such a fine staycf as she has proved to be will not be troubled by the extra furlong. Taiamai was boifg’ht as a foal oy whe Hon. E. W. Alison for 60gns. On being brought over to New Zealand she was submitted at auction with a moderate reserve, hut was left on her owner’s hands. She has since won ovef <£3330 in stakes.
