BOXING

TRACEY Y. POOLET. By “VICTOR.” The Wanganui Amateur Boxing Association has been fortunate in scouring such a great attraction as the, return match between the two heavyweights—J, Tracey, of Australia, and x. Pooley, of Auckland —for their tournament to be held on Friday evening next in His Majesty’s Theatre. It- is evident that there is going to be a big house, as great interest is being taken in the contest, which, it is predicted, will lie the finest ever staged in Wanganui. In their first meeting at Auckland, Tracey won after a splendid contest which lasted thirteen rounds, during which there was some most exciting -work. The Aucklander is confident he will do better on this occasion, aa he has had better opportunities for training, and reporTa himself as being in the pink of condition. Tracey made a good showing against Clabby, one of the cleverest boxers even seen in N.Z.; and he, too, reckons to be in tip-top fettle bore next Friday. In the circumstances a stirring contest is anticipated by all followers of tbe game.

In addition to the big match, there will be five preliminary bouts, all of which should be very interesting. A, C. Yenua and F. Kurth are to meet, and this is sure to be a clever and lively contest. Two midgets—E. Stewart and A. Cowan—are to meet in a special bout, and as they are both very clever little lads their display will be worth seeing. R. Duigan and 11, Phillips, two local lightweights, can bo depended upon to put up a. good contest, and G. IV. Thomas and G. Kemp are another pair who will give the spectators a clever, scientific display. One of the tit-biis of the evening will be the featherweight match between Redwing (GTeymonth) and J. Gann (Wanganui), Redwing has a fine record, and there will be no dull moments while this pair are in the ring. Canu is training hard, and he is very sanguine that he will get the verdict over the visitor. Altogether flic programme is a topnotch one, and should draw a {racked house.
