PAISLEY BY-ELECTION.
MR ASQUITH AND GERMANY’S DEBT. Australian and N.Z. Cable Association. Received February 10, 10 a.m. LONDON, February 7. Mr Asquith, speaking at Paisley, said that two thousand millions is about the outside that can be got from Germany. “I am prepared to write off our share »•> a bad debt,” he added. APPEAL TO LIBERALS. . Received February 10, 9.15 a.m. LONDON, February 8. Three of Mr Gladstone’s sons—Henry, Stephen and Herbert—have sent Mr Asquith a joint telegram, stating: “The country wants clear and definite guidance, which yon are giving. May the remembrance of the Midlothian campaign in 1880 unite all Liberals in Paisley, and give you a tremendous majority.”
