PA TEA WRESTS COLOURS PROM WAVERLEY. The time-honoured battle for the handsome bannertrophy was once again fought out between Patea and Waverley Bowling Clubs at Waverley on Saturday, and excited' a great deal of interest. This was the fifth struggle which /has taken place between the clubs for the prized colours, and, like all previous battles, resulted in a. most exciting contest. The' weather was beautifully fine, and the green very fast and keen. The play was of a high standard throughout, and there wa-s very little between the contesting rinks at any stage of the journey. On the 20th head' Patea was 17 and Waverley 16. As may be imagined, play in the last head was brimful of interest, and every bowl was followed with rivetted attention. However, Patea was determined to take th© Banner back with them, and they placed the issue beyong doubt by getting' in two on the last head. This left the result: Patea: Bourks, Bogey, Johnston, Elliott (sk.) 19. ’ Waverley: Dalton, Merriman, J. E. Palmer, D. Taylor (sk.) 16. A GREAT CORN CURE.
