The telephone service has practically collapsed. Thousands of suburban residents are unable to leave their homes. Seas are sweeping over local seaside resorts, and millions of dollars Bummer has been done, summer homes and bungalows having been swept out to sea. Shipping is tied up in the icc-locked harbours. The old Dominion liner Princess Anne, was driven ashore at Rockway. and is in a precarious position, with 104 people aboard.
