INFLUENZA.

CASE ON THE MAH ARC A. (Per United Press Association.) CHRISTCHURCH, February 6. An ordinary seamen on the ferry steamer Mararoa reported sick this morning. A doctor diagnosed the case as one of mild influenza. The man was able to walk to the tram to go into hospital in Christchurch. Tho men’s quarters in the Mararoa vere fumigated during the day and Union officials were agreeable to the men sailing in the ship to-night, but the men themselves refused to go aboard till tho boat had been .thoroughly fumigated from cud to end The whole of the crew went ashore, and fumigation work is being carried out to-night. The Mararoa s sailing’for Wellington has been postponed till to-morrow night. The TVakatu took the North Island mails, but she calls at Kaikoura, aud will not roach 'Wellington until tomorrow night.
