COAL MINERS' DEMANDS.
THE LATEST SCHEME. Australian and N.Z. Cable Association. Received January 31, 10.30 a.m. SYDNEY, Jan. 31. The Coalminers’ Federation's annual conference discussed a scheme to take the place of the existing agreement, which terminates at the end of the present year, and approved of the following scheme, which will be submitted to the miners’ lodges before being finally adopted:—A six-hour day, five working days per week, the abolition of the contract system, a fortnight’s holiday annually on full pay at the minimum weekly wage, full wages or compensation for time lost, employers to provide light, tools and explosives free, men to have an effective voice in controlling the industry, the installation of modern safety appliances in mines, and proper sanitary and bathing accommodation.
