CONCILLIAT ON COUNCIL.

WOOL STOREMEN’S DISPUTE.

A sitting of the Conciliation Council was held this morning, Mr W. Newton presiding, when the demands of the local Wool and Grain Storemen’s Union were considered.

The assessors for the Union were Messrs H. A. Otto, Monteith, and McKenzie, and those for the employers were Messrs W. Brown, H. Couper, and A. Weekes.

The principal demands were for an eight-hour day, wages for permanent hands at M 2s Gd per week, and for casuals at Is lid per hour; special pay for special work; overtime at the rate of 2s 7d per hour and 3s lOd per hour; double ordinary time for Sundays and New Year’s Day, and double overtime rates for all other holidays. No agreement except ou a few minor clauses was arrived at, and the dispute was referred to the Arbitration Court,
