Mr Mackinder, a member of the House ©f Commons, speaking at Bradford, denounced the jirohteering in wool. He declared that the Government made over sixteen, million sterling profits on wool last year. Mr Mackinder added that the Government paid Australia and Yew Zealand 641- millions for wool, whL’h when auctioned fetched 100 per cent, above the prices for the previous 12 months. ..Yet the Government paid no more. Since March the Government had sold 1,450,000 bales. Mr Mackinder instanced one firm’s profits, which averaged ,£BSOO before the war, while the profit last year was ,£37,900.
