HOSTEL SITE.

GOVERNMENT OBJECT TO TENURE The proposed site for the boys’ hostel in connection with the Technical College was briefly discussed at the meeting of the Education Board last night. The members were informed that the Department would not give a grant on a lease except that compensation was provided for improvements, or that a Glasgow lease was granted. It did not approve of a lease for 100 years. Mr W. Bruce remarked that the site suggested in the College Estate .was too small. The hostel must be equipped with suitable and ample grounds in view of future extension, he considered. The Board passed a resolution to the effect that it considered the area offered by the College Trustees was unsuitable.
