Appreciation of the services of Milt. J. B. Seymour (who has resigned from the general secretaryship of the New Zealand Returned Soldiers’ Association to act as organiser for the Workers’ Educational Association) is concaved in the following resolution of the ’Wellington district executive committee“ That the Wellington Provincial Executive Association wishes to place on record its deep regret at the resignation of D. J. Seymour as general secretary, and his consequent severance from the internal administration of his important services to the association and his personal influence in the successful actiev'menls attained. The members of the executive also wish to extend to Mr .Seymour persona! wishes for future success.” Similar resolutions have been adopted by other executives of the Returned Soldiers’ Association throughout the Dominion. Air Robert Williamson, manager for J. C. Williamson, Ltd., is at present in town making the preliminary arrangements for the farewell appearance in Wanganui of Aiks Aluriel Starr at the Opera House next week. Among the recent Junior National Scholarship successes appears the name of Sylvain L. Luxford, a student at the Wanganui Technical College, son of Mr W. M. Luxford, of Aramoho, who has gained a junior free place certificate.
Police-Sergt. McCrorie, who has been transferred from Westport to New Plymouth, has taken up his duties at the latter town.
Mr Johnston, who has for the past six or seven years been gaoler at Wanganui, and who is retiring on superannuation after 30 years’ service in the Prisons Department, was the recipient of a presentation from the local members of the P<f.ce Force. The presentation, which Took the form of a case of pipes, was made by Senior-Sergt. Bourke. who referred appreciatively to the obliging and useful services rendered bv the recipient during his stay in Wanganui to the members of the local force! Other speakers endorsed the remarks. Air Johnston and his family intend to at Auckland.
