ORANGE BLOSSOMS.
BATES—MAULE. A quiet but pretty wedding was solemnised in St. Raul’s Church, Wungonui, on 7tli Jailuary, 3920, the officiating minister being the .Rev. Frazer Barton. The contracting parties wore Miss Violet Elizabeth Maule, eldest daughter of Mrs Maule and the late Mr James Poison Maule, of Wanganui, and Mr Cyril Palmer Bates, of Ohnkune, elder son of Mr and Mrs Edwin B. Bates, of Howdck, Auckland, and formerly of Taranaki. The bride, who was given away by her uncle, Mr William P. Maule, of Wellington, looked charming in a dress of crepe-de-chine, prettily embroidered. This was set off by the orthodox veil and orange blossome, and a beautiful bouquet of pink and white. The bride was attended by Miss Bates, sister of the bridegroom, and by her sisters, Misses Ivy and Bessie Maule. These young ladies with their white dresses, large hats, and pretty bouquets, added very much to the attractiveness of the occasion. The bridegroom was attended by his brother, Mr Reydon P. Bates, of Wellington, and by Mr Claud Yen noil, of Rewa. After the ceremony a reception was held in the Y.M.C.A. rooms, when a large number, of guests assembled and honoured the customary toasts. Later in the afternoon the happy couple, amid showers of confetti, left by motor for Marton, en route for North Auckland, the bride travelling in a becoming costume of blue, with hat to match. RICHARDS—STOKES. . A quiet but pretty wedding took place at Wanganui on Wednesday, 31st December, when Ethel May, eldest daughter of Mr and Mrs J. R. Stokes, Campbell Street, was married to George Harold, youngest son of Mr S. Richards, of Harrison Street. The ceremony, w'hich took place at St. John s Church, was performed by the Rev. Archdeacon. Reeve. Mr J. Mancer acted as best man. The bride, who was given away by her brother, Mr Reg. Stokes, looked charming in white silk, with veil and orange blossoms, and carried a shower bouquet. She was attended by her sister, Miss Gladys Stokes, in white figured voile and pale blue hat, as bridesmaid, and Miss Rita Davis, cousin of the bride, in white silk, as flower girl. The weddingbreakfast was served in Messrs Keyes’ dining rooms, when the usual toasts were honoured, after which the happy couple left for New Plymouth by the mail.
