INDIANS ON STRIKE.
WANT HIGHER WAGES. Australian and N.Z. Cable Association. Received January 24, 11.50 a.m. SUVA, January 24. Indians employed by the Suva municipality and the Public Worke Department at Vancouver (Fiji), the Sugar Company, and many store and house servants have struck work for increased pay owing to high cost of living. Over 1500 are “out.” Indian agitators are urging the extension of the strike. Employers are disinclined to grant the increase in pay, but they may grant food concessions.
