FINAL FIGURES.
OFFICIAL ELECTION EETDENS FOE WANGANUI. Owing 1 to the Christmas holidays intervening, the local official count of the votes in both the electoral and licensing polls have been delayed. The electoral returns, official notice of which appears in another column, were made available to-day, and tho licensing returns will be completed to-morrow. This is the result oi the official count: Cuttle, W. J. 2637 Mcllvride, L Yeitch, W. A 4340 Total valid vote polled... 8243 Informal 77 It will be seen that Mr Veiteh scored an absolute majority of 437 over the combined votes secured by his opponents, while his majority over Mr Cuttle was 1703. The following additional votes were added during the count, including absentee votes, further votes on declaration, seamen’s votes, and soldiers who were not on the roll, and who voted as absentees: Cuttle, W. J 77 Mcllvride, L 32 Veiteh, W. A 153 Informal 4 The number of absentee voters was 218, seamen 4, and soldiers voting as absentees 40.
