ECHO OF INFLUENZA

THE CLOSING OF HOTELS. Australian and N.Z Cable Association. Received November 22, 8.45 a.m. SYDNEY, November 22. As a result of the hotel case cabled on the 15th, the Government is introducing a Bill to validate the proclamation issued during the influenza epidemic.

The High Court, in a test case on the 15th inst., decided that the State authorities acted outside their powers in closing hotels during the late epidemic, and quashed the conviction of an hotelkeepr who failed to obey the closing order. The decision is important, involving extensive claims.
