OPERA HOUSE. MRS EVA CRAVEN WHEELER. An event of great interest to Wanganui is the visit of one of America's foremost speakers, Mrs Eva Craven-Wheeler, who will give an address on the subject of Prohibition at the Opera House tonight (Friday). The lecturer is one of •the finest American orators, and* her addresses suntilate with humour. It is to he hoped there will be a large attendance. MOCK COURT. The mock court to be held at the Technical College Assembly Hall this evening should prove a very novel and amusing entertainment for the general public. The proceedings of the court are punctuated with many local “hits,” and much merriment and witty dialogue is interspersed in the hearing of the breach of promise case. The performance will open with a musical programme, and bearing in mind that all proceeds axe in aid of a new memorial hall for the Technical College, the hail should be filled to overflowing. WANGANUI SOUTH AFRICAN VETERANS' ASSOCIATION. Members of the above are notified that the annual general meeting of the Association will be held in the Druids' Hall on Saturday evening of next week (22nd inst.). A social gathering and “smoko" will be held after the meeting. A full muster of membex’s is requested. EMILIE POLINI COMPANY. Messrs J. and N. Tait presented Miss Emilio Polini and. her talented company at the Opera House again last evening, when the Wanganui season was closed. The play staged was “De Luxe Annie,” a cleverly constructed American drama, which was splendidly performed to the evident pleasure of the large audience. GARRISON BAND. » MUNICIPAL CONCERT. On Sunday afternoon, the Garrison Band will give an open air concert on Durie Hill, commencing at 3 o'clock. An excellent programme is in prepare tion, particulars of which will be published .later.
