.THE. GBAUD. The new programme at the Grand attraced a large attendance last night. Ab a young girl who has “ideas’* not strictly conventional, Madge Kennedy in “Friend Husband” appeared in a merry little story, containing many humorous situations, ihe fourth chapter of “The Fighting Trail” and two excellent Graphics completed the programme. The Grand orchestra played appropriate xndsicai gems. To-morrow afternoon, a matinee will be given at 2.30, evhbtbodts. Last evening the attraction at Everybody’s was the screening of two big star pictures. Theda Bara appears in “The Vixen.” a powerful Fox drama, dealing with love, jealousy, and revenge. The second feature is entitled “Love’s Law,” a very appealing photo-play. The prices are: Circle Is 3d, stalls 9d. A “Grand Springtime Bazaar” is advertised to be held in Hie Methodist School Hall, Dublin Street, on Wednesday and Thursday. October 29 and 30, and judging by the syllabus of events it should prove a great attraction. All kinds of wants are being catered for, articles of every description loading the many stalls. The building is to be converted into a “Springtime Fairyland,” and mirth and music are to be provided. A great deal of self-sacrificing labour has evidently been put into the effort, and those directly concerned in the undertaking might yell bo confident of the result. The proceeds are, to be used for the purpose of renovating the church and Sunday school buildings, thus assisting in the improvement of the street and in making the property more attractive in appearance.
At tile Trinity Wesleyan Church on Sunday evening last the first of a series of monthly “People’s Services’’ was held, when a. large congregation, amongst which was a large number of men present. The address by the Rev. H. L. Blamires on “Missing the Mark” was a very h'elpful and appreciative one to those who were present. These services are to be held monthly, all seats being free, and are especially for the benefit of those who are not in attendance at any other church. WESTMERE CHURCH, Rev. F. B.
