eastown band op hope, Tie opening meeting for this session of the above was held in the Presbyterian Church on Tuesday evening. After the opening exercises, the president .(Rev. G. W, Blair) extended a hearty welcome to all present, after which the members stood and. renewed their temperance pledge. An interesting programme had been provided, to which the following contributed, all the items being well received, and many of them heartily encored: —Songs: Essie and Alee Whitcombe, Nan Blair- and Mr T. Marshall. Recitations: Maira Tnmbull, Thelma Boyd, Dorothy Coward, Dorothy Black, Jean 'Whitcombe, Chrissi© Mnnro, Laurie Salt, Eric Darkness and 'Neil Blair. Flute Solo: Cecil Poster. Dumb Bell Exercise: Miss May Blair. Scout Welcome Haka: Innes and Colin Darkness and Muriel Larking. The Eastown Orchestra (Messrs' Brown, Walpole, Whitcombe and Coleman) played several selections in their usual happy style. The accompanists were Mrs Whitcombe, Miss Dnlcie Brown, and Mr Clifford Walpole. An enjoyable evening concluded with the singing of the National Anthem.
