VIGILANCE COMMITTEE.
A NEED FOR WANGANUI DISTRICT. Speaking at Wanganui East on Saturday night, Mr F. H. Allen advocated the formation of a Vigilance Committee to watch the interests of the district in ■respect to public works. He said he would like 'to see such a committee formed by representatives of local bodies,’, such as the Chamber of Commerce, Borough Council, surrounding Town Boards and County Councils, to, act on the same,? lines as in the Auckland' Province. He’ referred to tire need’'for reading and public Works in the district. ’ < If local bodies combined, as he had suggested, they would get the facilities they so much desired. They ehouW show the that they were determined \ to have something done. / Other speakers approved of the suggestion , which it is hoped will take definite form.
