WANGANUI SCOUTS.

There was a full muster of the boyd of St. Andrew’s troop, on Saturday last, and under the supervision of Ass. S.M. Prince good work was done. Patroi leader F. Harrison was presented with his all round cord, and Scout M. Armstrong with his thriftyman’s badge. Two new hoys were received as members, and arrangements were made for the big field day yesterday. The Upper Aramoho troop, known as St. Andrew’s No. 2, spent a most enjoyable afternoon last Saturday with Ser-geant-Major Taylor and Lance-Corporal Gilbertson in charge. Scout Fred Clark qualified for his second class, and Scout J Soundy passed in his tenderfoot. There are still a few vacancies in this troop, and the next parade has been fixed for Saturday at half past two. The Scouts of St. Andrew’s No. 1 and 2 combined held a very successful field clay last Tuesday. Ass. S.M. Prince was in charge, ably assisted by SergeantMajor Taylor. The boys had a very helpful and pleasant day together, and quite a number qualified for their second class and cook’s badges, the examiner reporting that the cooking and baking of Corporal D. McLeod, I. Smith, and Scouts M. Armstrong and H. Smith being worthy of special mention. GIRL PEACE SCOUTS. The Girl Peace Scouts of Wanganui East, under the control of S.M. Barnet and Turnbull, held church parade at St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church last Sunday morning. Chaplain Campbell took for his text the words “Stand on guard ’ (Nehemiah 7-3), and gave a praetical and appropriate address on the Girls motto “Be always ready.” He counselled Hie girls to be sure and begiti their scout work at home, for in ]^ ITl £ good Scouts in the home circle they were fitting; and preparing* themselves for efficient andi successful troop V *° r i £ irls were met by the St. Andrew s troop at the Dublin Street bridge, and escorted to the church to the music of the Bugle Band All girls intending to join the St. Andrew s troop are invited to parade on Saturday afternoon at half past two.
