LONELY BOY 'SOLDIER.

PARENTS, BROTHERS, AND SISTERS ALL KILLED. An 18-year-old English soldier, Pte. Thomas William Smith, who was discharged from the Army as permanently unfit, lost his father, mother, four brothers, and three sisters in the war. He is the sole surviving member of the family. His father and four brothers were all killed on the same day—July 15, 1916, in the first advance at the Battle of the Somme. His three sisters were all killed in air raids—one at Addiscombe. Croydon, in 1915, and the others in the East End of London in 1916. His mother was killed in an air raid on the East End of London in 1917. Plo.
