FREEMAN'S CASE.

A large meeting at the Town Hall passed a resolution calling on the authorities to release Freeman, and asking all connected with the sailing of the Sonoma to refuse duty until this was effected. A crowd of several thousands marched from the Trades Hall to the wharf demanding Freeman’s release. They raided several shooting galleries en route, seizing rifles, but after an announcement that Freeman was being taken ashore the crowd dispersed. Four people were injured during a fight with the police.
