Wilkie (who can be depended upon to provide plenty of fun, as he is a Scotch comedian with few equals). In addition Air J. Reyman (elocutionist, who earned premier honours at the Napier competition) will give a recital which is sure to lie greatly enjoyed. Then there will Ire. O’Hara’s Orchestra, The Queen Alexandra and Pipe Bands, St. Paul's Choir, Drummer Mcllvride (in his splendid club-swinging exhibitions). Master G. Eeid (runner-up at tho Wellington vocal competitions). Miss Ngaexe Muir and Master J. P. McMillan (both well-known competitors in Highland dancing. The accompaniments will be in tho capable hands of Misses Ruby Curran and 'Purvey, and Mrs W. L. Burgess. 'There is every indication of a Lumper house, which is not to be wondered at seeing the excellence of the programme which is to be submitted. HIS MAJESTY'S. The popularity of Olga Petrova as a screen actress was fully evinced last night, when, despite the coldness of the evening, a large audience assembled at His Majesty’s Theatre to witness the screening of Petrova’s masterpiece, entitled “Tempered Steel,” in which all the critics agree that Mms. Petrova reaches the height of her career, that ■never has she done better work, never been so consistent and realistic. The supports are of a high standard. “A Seaside Tangle” is a Christie comedy of more than usual brightness and merit, while “Animal Traits” is an educational film of striking interest. An excellent number of the Weekly Topical completes one of the 1 best programmes released for some time. Attention is drawn to the dance to he held in the Druids’ Hall to-morrow night. A capable musician has been engaged and a. strict M.C. will control the dance. It is hoped to make those new fortnightly short night dances a success. Since the close of the war, they have been very popular in Britain and the Continent. HOCKEY DANOB. A notice appears in another column that the Phoenix Ladies’ Hockey Club dance, which was to have been held at the Fire Brigade Hall, is now to be held at the Druids’ Hall on Thursday next, sth inst. Every arrangement is being made to make the dance one of the best social events of the season. The meetings of the central auxiliary of the Baptist Union of New Zealand will lie continued this evening in the Baptist Church, Ingestre Street, when the retiring president (the Ecv. H. E. Edridge) will deliver his presidential address.
