Mr Edward Anderson, brother of Mrs John Ballancc, of Wanganui, who passed away at his home in Kelburn (Wellington) on Sunday morning, was born at Kingston, Jamaica, in 1845, and came to New Zealand in the ship Pilgrim when three years of age. A year later .his father started the business in Willis Street, Wellington, until recently known aa Edward Anderson and Co., Ltd. The deceased had a long connection in the Etapire City with St. Peter's Church, representing the parish on the Diocesan Synod for nearly 40 years. He was also churchwarden of the same parish for 21 years. The late Mr Anderson had been in failing health for some years; and during the last four months he was entirely confined to his bed. He leaves a widow (a daughter of the late Mr W. N. Millward) and four sons, Messrs MillYard, Norman, Selwyn, and Maurice Anderson, and one daughter. Miss Helen , Anderson. The Mayor (Mr C. E. Mackay) and J the Tramways Engineer (Mr F. P. Talboys) left for Wellington to-day to attend the Tramway Conference with reference to Government regulations against overcrowding. Mr E. H. Pridham, one of the local delegates te the Returned Soldiers’ Association Conference at Christchurch, returned to town yesterday. The other , -.local delegates (Messrs S. Brown and D. are expected back in a day or two.
