RANGITIKEI COUNTY JOTTINGS.

Mr Lethbridge, chairman of the 11angitikei County Council, and Cr. Pedersen, have been appointed to attend a conference to be held at Taihape in connection with the proposed alteration of boundaries.

The question of sand-drift is not a new one along this Coast, and local bodies are contemplating taking steps to combat it. The Poxton Chamber'of Commerce are advocating that steps bo taken to stop the drift between Wanganui and Paikakariki. 'Hie Cbuncil has endorsed a scheme suggested by Palmerston North Chamber of Commerce that Government take control of main arterial roads, with a view to permanent highways. The contract of cutting the drain along Hoki Street, near the mouth of the Rangitikei Diver, has been let to Mr T. Ba-stin, at T169 16s.

A contract has been let to Mr W. T. Hill to deliver TOO yards of gravel oil the lower end of the Turakina-Rulls Road, at 3s 3d per yard. Tenders were accepted by the chairman, Cr. Lethbridge, for delivering gravel on the Turakina-Wangaehu Roads as follows:—For about 60 yards on the Turakina Reach Road, Messrs Fell and Dnrdie, at 5s per yard: for about 70 yards on the Turakina Talley Road. Messrs Fell and Durdlo, at 4s 6d per yard: for about 150 yards on the Turakina-Wangaehu Roads. Mr R. Porter, at 5s 6d per yard: for about 40 yards on the Bakautawa Road, R, Porter, at 6s 6d per yard. /
