Mr Harper, chairman of the School Committee, in expressing the regret of the district at losing Miss Clemance, eulogised the ability, industry, and tatc which had marked her work at Fordell. On behalf of the parents, he presented the departing teacher with a silver-mounted ebony hair-brush and mirror. Miss Clemance received from Winnie Sharpe, who spoke for the school children, a gold and amethyst brooch.
