PARORANGI RACING STUD SALE.
It is not often that sportsmen have a chance of picking up young sound horses in training, but the sale of Mr E. Short’s racing stud, which will take place at “Almadale,” near Feilding, on Wednesday, April 23, will give them that opportunity. There are 14 horses to be sold, the majority of which are in training at present and have some valuable engagements in front of them. The best known of the horses in training is Demos, by Demosthenes from Jeanne d’Arc. This handosme three-ycar-old has not been over-raced, but is already among the smartest six-fur-longers in the Dominion. Then there is Bonnion, by Signor from Helen Portland, a half-brother to Bonny Helen, a gelding which would make a great bor so over fences, and Engari, by King Rufus, from Vane. Whiro, Hupana, Whetoki, and Tunukoke all are of the useful sort that should pick up some good stakes. The two-year-olds are a very attractive • lot, just what one would expect to find in Mr Short’s stable. Bitholia, by Demosthenes from Rangiao, a brother to that good mare, Elocution, has more substance and constitution than his sister, and ought to grow into a typical Derby horse, while Parorangi, by Demosthenes from Pellicle, a half-brother* to Vascular, Formalism, by Formative from Awapuhi, a sister to the successful hurdler Mahzoltov, and the rest of the youngsters have gool looks as well as high breeding to commend them. Full pedigrees, list of engagements, and past performances will be at the sale, which will be conducted by Mr R, C. Wallace.
