Australian and N.Z. Cable Association, CAPETOWN, April 2. In the Assembly, the Hon. Maian made a statement regarding unrest on the Rand. He announced that De Wet and Mentz were proceeding to Johannesburg to inquire into the position. The Government intends to protect life and property. Measures to that end were being taken. The Government was confident a serious crisis would he avoided.
